GIJON ATP RESULTS AND ORDER OF PLAY

The Gijon ATP continued yesterday, Dominic Thiem cruised past Francisco Cerundolo in two straight sets, Rublev was able to overcome the challenge Tommy Paul posed to him, beating him 7 5 6 3 in two straight sets, he won 84% of his first serve point and converted 33% of break points to see off Paul under two hours, Rinderknech gave Carreno Busta his biggest surprise as he defeated him 4 6 6 3 7 6 (18 16), the match was on for three hours and seven minutes, we witnessed a very long tie-break( one hour and thirty six minutes) eventually Rinderknech was able to progress! Andy Murray failed to complete a come-back as he lost 4 6, 6 1, 1 6 in three sets to Sebastian Korda, Murray lost his serve in the first set, he came back in the second looking so sharp winning the first five games the set finished 6-1, he could not replicate the same game and fell 6-1 in the third set, Murray gave it all and we hope to see him play in more tournaments as he his slowly and gradually getting back to his best.

Today we will see the semi-finals of the Gijon open kick off, Rublev who has lived up to the #1 seed billing will face a resurgent Dominic Thiem, quite a though test for Thiem but he's has done his best so far, will no doubt earn a lot of ranking points after reaching the semis of this ATP 250 event, facing Rublev is a very though task, Rublev is on a mission to win and he has so far lived up to it, he is in the race for the ATP Finals in Turin and he has shown he want to play there. Rublev has faced Thiem seven times and he won four out of those seven, he's the favourite tomorrow too, a great match up and we will be hoping to see a lot of movements and shot when the games starts by 13:00 GMT.

The next match is between Sebastian Korda and Arthur Rinderknech, no one saw this type of match up coming when the draw was announced but both Korda and Rinderknech overcame the odds to reach this particular stage. Sebastian has surprised us a lot as well as Rinderknech who pulled off a comeback against Carreno-Busta yeseterday. This match up promises to be interesting and we hope the best man comes on top at the end. The first match ever between Korda and Rinderknech comes up at 14:30 GMT
