Marseille vs Tottenham Match Preview and Prediction

Image
Many eyes will be on how the final matchday of Group D plays out, with this the only one of the eight UEFA Champions League groups to see no team eliminated nor assured of progression going into the final round. Knockout football has therefore arrived early for both Marseille and Tottenham, as both clubs can advance to the Round of 16 with a win at the Stade Vélodrome. It's quite an inopportune time then for Marseille to be on their longest winless streak (D1, L3) across all competitions since Sept-Oct of 2021. And with their only two victories in any tournament since the beginning of October 2022 (D1, L4) coming courtesy of Sporting Lisbon collecting red cards in both of Marseille's group stage matches against them, it seems there has been little to draw confidence from. Marseille themselves were down to ten men when conceding both of their goals away to Tottenham (L 2-0) earlier in the season, so at least they can wipe the slate clean and approach this with a clear mind. Tot

Liverpool vs Napoli Match Preview and Prediction

Image
After suffering yet another devastating loss over the weekend, going down 2-1 against Leeds to put an end to their 15-game unbeaten run at home (W11, D4), Liverpool are in desperate need of another magical UEFA Champions League (UCL) night at Anfield. Already securing progression from Group A might help ease some pressure on under-fire manager Jürgen Klopp, who has now led Liverpool to the UCL Round of 16 in all his six attempts, in what is the club's longest ever run of consecutive qualifications. Klopp will now embark upon his 100th UCL managerial appearance, becoming the first German coach to reach the milestone. A victory to mark that landmark occasion would be welcomed, and the odds should be stacked firmly in his favour considering Liverpool's seven meetings with Napoli have never ended in an away victory, whilst his side have won nine of their last 13 UCL home matches (D2, L2). Napoli have all but clinched top-spot in the group after accumulating a perfect record so far

WTA Finals: Jessica Pegula vs Maria Sakkari Match Preview

Image
The WTA Final starts today, we will see the best of tennis players this year come face to face with one another, this year's edition promises to be a great one. The first and only Match today is between American Jessica Pegula (WTA:3) and Maria Sakkari (WTA:5) the match will start around 00:00 GMT. Fottennis is giving you the preview of this interesting matchup Jessica Pegula hit the purple patch just in time for her maiden WTA Finals. Until two weeks ago, the 28-year-old owned only one career singles title and it came at a WTA 250 tournament in Washington D.C in 2019. She finally lifted her second trophy and did justice to her big-tournament form. She saved three match points against Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina and beat Bianca Andreescu, Sloane Stephens, Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sakkari in straight sets to lift the WTA 1000 title in Guadalajara. She has more WTA 1000 wins in the last two seasons than anyone else. Her 42 scalps in this season includes only two completed v

Felix wins the Basel ATP Title

Image
Felix made it three titles in three weeks today by defeating Holger Rune in two straight sets under two hours 6-3, 7-5. He now has four titles in his tennis career and has won the last three finals he has played in, previously losing eight finals before winning his first ATP title earlier this year. A transformating season for Felix, he pushed Nadal to five sets in Roland Garros, won his first ATP title before that and now he has completed a natural Hattrick of titles today, he won the Florence and Antwerp ( ATP-250 events) last two weeks, won the Basel open ( ATP-500 event) today. He has joined Andy Murray and Casper Rudd in the most recent players to win three events in three weeks. Murray did it in 2011 while Rudd did that last year.      "It's been an amazing week," Auger Aliassime said after the match. "Once again in the final, not getting broken all week (It's been) a long year, a long stretch of wins, and it's not over. So hopefully I can keep going,

Daniil Medvedev wins the Erste Bank Open

Image
Danil Medvedev won his 15th ATP title today, he defeated Denis Shapovalov in three sets, lost the first 4-6 and won the other two 6-3, 6-2. He is the latest man to get qualification into the ATP finals in Turin and his win has moved him closer to the No 3 on the ATP rankings. Medvedev dropped set for the first time today, losing the first set to a resurgent Shapovalov, he won 46% of the points compared to Shapovalov 64%. He recovered in the 2nd, saving 5 of the six break points he faced, he won half of the return points, 67% of the total games in the second set. He continued in the same pace in the 3rd avoiding double faults, won more games here 75%, he didn't face any break point and he converted two of the six break chances he had, hitting 8 winners to win the championship crown.  "I am really happy," Medvedev said. "This match was the best of the week because Denis was really playing unreal until probably 4-3 in the second set. He dropped his level by maybe two p

ATP Vienna Order of Play

Image
It has been a wonderful week for Grigor Dimitrov, he won't have seen himself playing today, he quite surprised us this week, his win against Rublev will be the talking point going into today's match, his great run might come to a halt as he faces Danil Medvedev today, the latter has been exceptional in this open, he's yet to drop a set and he's on course to win today but tennis can be unpredictable at times! The Match will start at 14:00 GMT Denis Shapovalov is gradually gathering momentum in recent weeks, we've seen some great performance form the former Canadian No 1 and he can do more when he faces Borna Coric by 15:30 GMT today. Shapovalov biggest win in this tournament at this stage is against Taylor Fritz whom he defeated in three sets, he can make another final in two months if he plays with that momentum today. Coric himself has been super in this tournament, he went against the odds beating Tsitsipas and Hurkacz to reach the semis, so he can't be looke

Basel ATP Order of Play

Image
Carloz Alcaraz is set to play Felix Auger-Alliaime by 14:30 GMT, it has being quite an open for both players, they've had easy opponents to face and today is the first big test for each of them. Today's game will be the third time they'll face each other, Felix has won in the former two encounters against Carlos. Today's match will be a different one, Carlos has been playing very well so I don't expect Felix to have an easy ride. Felix's form is another thing to consider, he won two 250-ATP titles in the past two weeks. Today's match will see a lot of shot making. The best player among the two will win for sure. Maybe Alcaraz will get his first win today.  The other match up today is between Holger Rune and Roberto Bautista-Agut. Just yesterday, Bautista defeated home favorite Stan Wawrinka in a grueling encounter. He has been in his best form in this tournament, exceeding my expectation, today's match will be much more grueling for him, Rune has been on

Brighton vs Chelsea Match Preview and Prediction

Image
Brighton & Hove Albion haven't won (D2, L3) since Graham Potter left for Chelsea in September, so they'd love to get one over his new side and keep themselves on track for a Premier League (PL) top-half finish. New boss Roberto De Zerbi admitted his team were outclassed by Manchester City (L 3-1) last time out, but was nevertheless pleased with their performance. The Seagulls must start turning performances into results though, particularly after failing to score in each of their last two home league fixtures (D1, L1), including a frustrating 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest. Highlighting the task ahead, they've never beaten Chelsea in a league H2H anywhere but they've drawn two of the last three here (L1), which might offer some encouragement. Not since 1933, when these sides first met, have Chelsea tasted defeat in this fixture (W12, D5) but having broken Salzburg's 40-match unbeaten run at home in midweek Champions League action (W 2-1), they'll be well a

Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur Match Preview and Prediction

Image
It took seven rounds for Bournemouth caretaker manager Gary O'Neil to suffer his first defeat as a professional first team boss, and that was soon followed up with a second, going down 0-2 to West Ham United. Now the honeymoon period appears to have worn off, it remains to be seen how Bournemouth react, with that defeat leaving them just four points from the Premier League (PL) relegation zone going into the weekend round. After falling to a 1-0 defeat to Southampton in their most recent PL home fixture, Bournemouth look a long way off snagging the large scalp that is so sorely needed to rejuvenate their faltering campaign. The top-flight returnees have lost all three PL contests against the famed "big six" clubs by a combined score of 16-0 this season, and the task of hosting Tottenham was already likely to be difficult when also considering their PL record against Spurs (W1, D2, L7). Tottenham boss Antonio Conte would have needed some herbal tea and a long sleep after

Leicester City vs Manchester City Match Preview and Prediction

Image
After recording just one win across the opening ten Premier League (PL) rounds, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers appeared to be teetering on the precipice of losing his job. But winning back-to-back games over Leeds and Wolves by a combined 6-0 scoreline appears to have given Rodgers more time, with the Leicester manager hailing his side as being "collectively very, very good" following their emphatic win in the Black Country last time out. It will undoubtedly take a huge collective push to topple the irresistible Manchester City, especially after Leicester conceded nine times across the last three PL H2H encounters. Playing at home may provide some comfort for the Foxes though, as Rodgers has overseen three straight PL clean sheets at the King Power Stadium for the first time since a four-game run that ended in July 2020. Yet a clean sheet against Man City seems something of a pipe dream, especially as the defending champions have combined a rip-roaring attack with a roc

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Dortmund Match Preview and Prediction

Image
Frankfurt kept their hopes of reaching the UEFA Champions League (UCL) knockout phase alive with a 2-1 win vs Marseille on Wednesday, their third consecutive triumph across all competitions. Their attention will now switch back to the Bundesliga, via a clash with fellow top-four contenders Dortmund, which could end with the Eagles starting November four points clear of BVB in the UCL qualification zone. Success may not come easy, but Frankfurt's return of three home league wins from their last five starts, following August's 6-1 drubbing against Bayern (D1, L1) must be encouraging. That trio of triumphs all saw the Europa League holders win both halves, and with at least two different men scoring from open play in all of them, Oliver Glasner's charges can again present a danger all over the park. Dortmund secured progression to the UCL knockouts during the week after drawing 0-0 vs Man City, with Gregor Kobel's first penalty save in 11 months being the big highlight. H

Basel ATP Results and Order of Play

Image
Ugo Humbert defeated Jenson Brooksby in two straight sets, Holger Rune for the second time in two weeks, defeated De Minaur this time around in two straight sets, Albert Ramos got the better of Lorenzo Musetti in three sets, Felix Auger-Aliassime also defeated  Andrea Huesler in three sets, 6-7(3-7), 6-4, 6-4. Arthur Rinderknech also defeated Alex Molcan in two straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Carlos Alcaraz defeated Botic Van De Zandschulp in three sets 6-4, 6-2. Pablo Carreno Busta was not left out as he got the better of Dominic Stricker in three sets. Today, by 15:00 GMT Roberto Bautista will face Andy Murray for a spot in the quarter finals, Alexander Bublik will play against Albert Ramos at the same time. Felix Auger-Aliassime will face Miomir Kecmanovic by 16:30 GMT. Brandon Nakashima will face Stan Wawrinka by 19:00 GMT and the match- up for today will come to an end by 20:30 GMT when Holger Rune battles  Ugo Humbert in a bid to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Manchester United vs Sheriff Triaspol Match Preview and Prediction

Image
Another late goal for Manchester United earned them a 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Saturday, coming soon after their injury-time UEFA Europa League (UEL) winner against Omonia Nicosia (W 1-0). Although almost assured of a knockout play-off round place, they'll want to beat Sheriff Tiraspol in their penultimate group game as they aim to top the group ahead of Real Sociedad, whom they trail by three points but play on matchday six. While Cristiano Ronaldo seems likely to be leaving the club, a bigger blow could be the loss of defender Raphaël Varane through injury, particularly as both Man United's UEL home games this term were decided by a single goal (W1, L1). As he's helped the Red Devils keep three consecutive clean sheets at home (W2, D1), manager Erik ten Hag could have done without this disruption to his backline as the games come thick and fast. Any changes he's forced into might offer Sheriff (W1, L3) a shred of opportunity as they must win by at least two goals to

Tottenham Hotspur vs Sporting Cp Match Preview and Prediction

Image
Tottenham's Premier League (PL) title challenge is teetering with increasing instability after their perfect home record across all competitions this season came to an end (W7, L1) with a 1-2 loss to the high-flying Magpies from Newcastle. It was the last thing a frustrated Antonio Conte needed with the quickfire schedule rolling at full pace and the pressure building in Group D of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League (UCL). Conte was reduced to pleading publicly for a significant purse to splurge with during the next transfer window as he struggles to account for Tottenham's workload as well as the injuries to key players Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison. Anything is possible now that their London fortress has been breached, though they have avoided the humiliation of three consecutive competitive losses for more than 18 months now, so their consistency could shine through in what will be their 50th UCL match (from the group stage onwards). Sporting Lisbon put their own duo of d

Barcelona Vs Bayern Munich Match Preview and Prediction

Image
Barcelona no longer have their UEFA Champions League (UCL) destiny in their own hands following their 3-3 draw with Inter Milan, but must target winning their final two group games, starting with this one against Bayern Munich, while hoping other results go their way. Looking to avenge September's 2-0 H2H loss in Germany, it should help that they enter following an encouraging 4-0 La Liga (LL) win over Athletic Bilbao. That was their second consecutive victory 'to nil' at home after leading 3-0 at half-time following the 3-3 UCL draw here with Inter Milan, and the Nou Camp will be rocking as they try to avoid being dumped out of the competition by Bayern for the second consecutive season! Ominously though, while Barça are unbeaten across four UCL home games (W2, D2), that run began after they lost 3-0 here to Bayern last season so they've every reason to be wary. In fact, the reigning Bundesliga champions have dominated Barcelona in recent years, winning the last five

RB Leipzig vs Real Madrid Match Preview and Prediction

Image
Leipzig have fought back from losing their first two UEFA Champions League (UCL) Group F games to remain in contention for their third appearance in the Round of 16 of this competition. Avenging their 2-0 loss away to Real Madrid in the reverse fixture of this group stage would put them in the driving seat, potentially even sealing their progression if Celtic were to conquer Shakhtar Donetsk in Glasgow. Despite failing to prevent their worst 11-game start to a Bundesliga season, Leipzig should be full of belief after completing a dramatic three-goal comeback at Augsburg to draw 3-3 at the weekend and stretch their unbeaten run in all competitions to seven games (W5, D2). Five consecutive home wins since their costly 1-4 UCL loss at home to Shakhtar also leaves them well placed, whilst the sad passing of Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz at the weekend serves as further inspiration to rise to the occasion. Real Madrid have already booked their place beyond the group stage for a 2

Dortmund vs Manchester City Match Preview and Prediction

Image
In what is set to be a fascinating contest, Borussia Dortmund host Manchester City for a crucial UEFA Champions League (UCL) clash with just two group stage rounds remaining. BVB's youngsters smashed Stuttgart 5-0 last weekend, as three teenagers (Jude Bellingham, Giovanni Reyna and Youssoufa Moukoko) scored for the same team in one game for the first time in Bundesliga history, with this exciting side now aiming to avenge their cruel UCL group stage exit on H2H goal difference last season. Now making a club-record seventh consecutive UCL appearance, Dortmund have fared well in the UCL group stage this term (W2, D1, L1), though that one defeat came against City in the reverse fixture (2-1). The Germans now need two points from their final two games to be certain of qualification for the Round of 16 but they know just a point here would all but see them through, due to a superior H2H record over fellow Group G competitors Sevilla and Copenhagen. The visitors are not under the same

Benfica Vs Juventus Match Preview and Prediction

Image
This is a pivotal UEFA Champions League (UCL) clash for both Benfica and Juventus, with the hosts in the driving seat. Coming into the round, they are top and level with Paris Saint-Germain on eight points meaning a win would guarantee a top-two finish in Group H, though a draw would also suffice if Maccabi Haifa fail to overcome PSG at the Parc des Princes. However, there is no doubt that the Portuguese outfit will be backing themselves to get the job done without help from others, especially considering the form they are in. Benfica's last competitive defeat came back in May against Porto, which was a loss they avenged this past weekend after beating their title rivals 1-0 in domestic action, extending their unbeaten competitive run to 20 matches (W17, D3). They also boast a formidable home record in Europe, losing just three of their last 23 outings (W14, D6) at the Estádio da Luz. That will be a concern for visiting Juventus whose Champions League ambitions are hanging by a thr

Jessica Pegula wins the second Guadalajara WTA Open

Image
Jessica Pegula continued her impressive season by defeating Maria Sakkari in two straight sets. Captivating show by the American as she won 79% of her first serves, saved two out of the three bonus points she faced, she also won 51% of the first return points, converted 5 out of the 8 break points she had, She won 88% of her service games and won 71% of the total games en route to victory. After accepting the championship trophy, Pegula made remarks to the crowd ending with, "Last but not least, this is from me to my mom." Kim Pegula, the Bills and Sabres co owner and president, has been dealing with an disclosed medical condition since June. Jessica is putting herself in the best shape for the WTA Finals coming up this month

Holger Rune Shocks Stefanos Tsitsipas to win his second career title.

Image
Holger Rune defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in two straight sets. Rune has claimed his second title of the year, he won the first in Munich earlier this year. The dane had a record of 68% second serves won, he also saved 100% of the break point he faced. Won 53% of his second return points and converted 2 out of the 5 break points he had. He won 100% of his service games, 20% of his return games, and won 60% of the total games to claim the victory  Holger Rune after the victory said "I knew it was going to be difficult, but I just tried to stick to the game plan. I had to play my best tennis today and it was good that I could find the level. I am super happy. "It was very close to perfection. I was making a lot of returns and playing pretty well behind my serve. Stefanos is an amazing player, who always makes it difficult. It was a super fun match to play." He'll see his ranking points raised and might even move high to top 20 if he performs well at the Basel open start

Musetti upsets Berretinni to win the Napoli ATP

Image
Musetti defeated fellow Italian Berretinni to win his second title. He came victorious in two sets, the first set via a tie break and he won the second set comfortably. Musetti did not drop a set in Napoli which included wins over Laslo Djere(7-5, 6-4), Daniel Glato Galan (6-3, 6-0), Miomir Kechmanovc (6-3, 6-4) and the one he had today. Berretinni also had a good run defeating Roberto Caraballes Baena (6-4, 6-2), Taro Daniel(6-2, 6-3), Mackenzie McDonald (3-6, 7-6(7-2), 6-3) before today's loss.  "It was a really tough first set," Musetti said. "Very long and Matteo, he was not 100 percent physically. His capacity to stay until the end, to fight until the end, was a big problem for me to solve. "Today I think I played not the best tennis because think we were both really emotional, really nervous and there was a lot of tension, but in the important moments I played better. It's really nice to be here with my family, with the crowd, and it's a really bi

Felix Auger-Aliassime wins the Antwerp ATP

Image
It was two titles in two weeks for Felix as he defeated Sebastian Korda in two straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. He now has three titles in 2022 alone. Winning today increased his hopes of qualifying for the ATP finals in Turin. "It's amazing you know, to win again, back to back tournaments, and to win for the first time here in Antwerp [Belgium] against a player like Sebastian Korda who is a fantastic player, one of the greats to come," Felix said in his post-match interview. " And it was a tough week really." Felix got a record of 7 aces in the match, he won 85% of his 1st serve, saved 100% of the break points he faced. He was also sharp, converting half of the break points he had. He won about 85% of the net points and 57% of the total points. Felix defeated Manuel Guinard(6-3, 6-3) Danil Evans (4-6, 7-6(7-4), 6-2), Richard Gasquet(7-6(7-3), 7-6(7-3)) in his run at Antwerp. Before today, Korda defeated Marcos Giron (6-3, 7-6(0-7) 6-4), Karen Khachanov(7-5, 7-6(11-9))

Southampton vs Arsenal Match Preview and Prediction

Image
On Wednesday, coach Ralph Hasenhüttl was taunted with chants of "you're getting sacked in the morning" by his own fans, but Southampton still ended a run of five games without a win (D1, L4) by beating Bournemouth 1-0. The under-pressure manager admitted the victory at the Vitality Stadium was an "important" one, but did warn his players not to rest on their laurels as they try to put further distance between themselves and the Premier League (PL) relegation zone. The next challenge for the Saints is to improve their form at St Mary's, where they have picked up just one win in seven (D2, L4) since beating opponents Arsenal here back in April. That 1-0 victory was also the last time they kept a clean sheet on home soil, where three of their four home defeats have come despite scoring first. That defeat for the Gunners on the South Coast was somewhat of a rarity given they have lost just four of the last 25 H2H meetings between the two teams (W13, D8), scoring

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle Match Preview and Prediction

Image
Tottenham's 2-0 midweek loss at Old Trafford cast the first shreds of doubt around their chances of securing back-to-back top-four Premier League (PL) finishes. Yet even after that defeat, Spurs still have a four-point cushion over their fifth-placed conquerors Manchester United, and with Antonio Conte's men now targeting an 11th straight competitive home win, they can clearly dominate in front of their own fans. With just two of Spurs' preceding ten victories here seeing them score only once, and the usual suspects Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min often doing their bit, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is fast-becoming a place opposition sides fear going. At least one part of that feared duo has netted in five of the last six games during Spurs' rich streak as hosts while the first goal/assist combo involving the duo here would be their 50th in the PL. Newcastle United won't have quickly forgotten the 5-1 drubbing they suffered here back in April, but they are a differen

Antwerp ATP Order of Play

Dominic Thiem saved three match points today as he defeated Hubert Hurkacz in three sets, he will face Sebastian Korda who defeated Yoshihito Nishioka to reach this stage. Thiem has finally gotten his form back and we have seen the way he's been playing over a few weeks, tomorrow is another test for him, facing Korda who has been top notch in recent times, Korda reached the finals of the Gijon Open last week in the same competition Thiem participated in. Can he make it two finals in two weeks? We will know when they play against each other by 15:30 GMT. The second semi final of the day will see Richard Gasquet go head to head vs Felix Auger-Alliasime. Felix had a thought match today vs Daniel Evans and he had to wait for the third set before he could win. Gasquet was able to beat Goffin in two sets yesterday but he won't be having that type of match up when he faces Felix by 17:30 GMT tomorrow. Felix needs this match most as he's in the race to the ATP finals in Turin, w

As Roma Vs Napoli Match Preview and Prediction

Image
A sold-out Stadio Olimpico will play host to the 155th Serie A (SA) Derby del Sole between Roma and an ominous-looking Napoli, with the visitors still unbeaten this campaign and looking for a sixth consecutive positive H2H result against the side from the Italian capital (W3, D2). José Mourinho's men have shown fighting spirit recently however, ending the last round inside the SA top four after winning at Sampdoria 1-0 despite injuries to key players. It has been all or nothing for Roma at home this term (W4, L2), and with just one victory from their last six home meetings with Napoli (D1, L4) Roma fans might have reason to be concerned. However, the Giallorossi have shown some strong league form here, losing just two SA home games since the turn of the year (W7, D4) so Mourinho may look to whip up passionate support to get his side over the line again after saying he was "ashamed" of the refereeing against Roma in a heated 1-1 draw the last time these sides met. Napoli

Order of Play of the Napoli ATP

Image
The Napoli ATP Semi-final matches will start tomorrow; first on the play list is United State's McKenzie McDonald (ATP:74) Vs Italy's Mateo Berrettini (ATP:16). Berrettini was disappointed last weekend after he lost out in the first round of the florence ATP but he has since put that loss behind and has played so well in Napoli, he is yet to drop a set in all the matches he has played in Napoli and he will be hoping that continues when he plays McDonald at 14:00 GMT. The second Match of tomorrow is between Miomir Kecmanovic (ATP:30) and Lorenzo Musetti (ATP:24). Musetti is having a very good summer and he saw his ranking point increase just last week after reaching the semi final of the Florence open, he will hope to do better than last week  when he faces Kecmanovic by 15:30 GMT tomorrow.

Order of play of the Stockholm ATP (Semi-Finals)

Image
Alex De Minuar continued his strong summer play after defeating Denis Shapovalov in two sets, he will face Holger Rune who also defeated Cameron Norrie in three sets, a great match coming up there. Rune will be hoping to make his second final in few weeks after reaching the Sofia ATP Final not quite  long. Alex will hope he keeps his top form when he faces him tomorrow. Alex is the favourite coming into this match. The match is going to take place at 14:00 GMT All eyes will be on Stefanos Tsitsipas when he faces  Emil Ruusuvuori  by 18:00 GMT tomorrow, Tsitsipas is the favourite here and he has not dropped a set throughout this tournament, meanwhile Ruusuvuori will be hoping to stage another upset when he faces Tsitsipas tomorrow, he defeated Frances Tiafoe in two straight sets today 6-1 6-2.

Chelsea vs Manchester United Match Preview and Prediction

Image
Two of the Premier League's most iconic clubs collide at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with Chelsea and Manchester United accounting for 18 of the 30 Premier League titles on offer since the competition's inception in 1992. Both are now embarking on journeys under new managers, with Blues boss Graham Potter unbeaten in his first seven outings since switching allegiances from Brighton (W5, D2). Having conceded just twice since Thomas Tuchel was axed, Chelsea have a water-tight defence to thank for that up-turn in form. Potter said his side "gave it everything" in their goalless draw with Brentford in midweek, but after such endeavours, Chelsea get just two days rest before turning out again. This time they'll be at home and Potter will hope that may inject some energy into his squad's tired legs given Chelsea haven't lost at Stamford Bridge since April (W6, D4). Despite that, the last time they won a H2H on home soil was in November 2017, with Potter the fo

Real Madrid vs Sevilla Match Preview and Prediction

Image
There was no 'El Clásico' hangover for Real Madrid, who followed up beating Barcelona 3-1 by thrashing Elche 3-0 in midweek with newly-crowned Ballon D'Or winner Karim Benzema on the scoresheet. For the first time in La Liga (LL) history, a side had three goals overturned by VAR, highlighting how dominant Carlo Ancelotti's partially-rotated side was on the night. Worryingly for Sevilla, league-leaders Madrid (W9, D1) will almost be back to full strength for this contest, and should welcome back goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as they bid to extend an unbeaten home H2H record that stretches back to December 2008 (W14, D1). His return from injury could have a big impact too, as none of the last three of those matches saw Los Blancos keep a clean sheet (W2, D1). Sevilla are making progress after a dreadful start to the season with Jorge Sampaoli starting his second spell in charge with a four-match unbeaten run (W1, D3) in all competitions. Those draws all ended 1-1, includin

Stockholm ATP Order of Play

Image
The Stockholm ATP is in its quarter final stage, there are a lot of great matches coming up in that stage today. First of the four is the Match between Alex De Minaur (ATP:23) and Denis Shapovalvov (ATP:20) by 12:00 GMT,  Dennis has been gathering a bit of consistency lately and he should be in a good state of mind facing Alex but Alex has beaten him three out of the four times they met, Denis is still the favourite as he has the match in his hands, if he plays well he will win if he doesn't the otherwise happens. Another fierce Match up is between Holger Rune(ATP:27) and Cameron Norrie(ATP:14), it has been a few frustrating weeks for Norrie has he has battled covid which has seen him drop his performances, tomorrow will be another test for him. Rune on the other hand has the chance to beat Norrie for the first time when they meet later in the day  by 13:30 GMT, Norrie leads head to head 3-0. Greek Maestro Stefanos Tsitsipas(ATP:5) will battle against Sweeden's Mikael Ymer(ATP

Antwerp ATP Order of play (Quarter Finals)

Image
The Antwerp ATP continues tomorrow; Sebastian Korda(ATP:36)  will face Yoshihito Nishioka(ATP:39) at 12:30 GMT. Sebastian has been playing so well in recent times, just yesterday he defeated  Khachanov in two straight sets to set up this tie, he will be hoping to get a similar result later today.  Dominic Thiem(ATP:132) who overcame Cerundolo in three sets yesterday will battle against world No 11 Hubert Hurkacz, Thiem managed to win yesterday but he'll need a better result if he wants to make the semis, he has never defeated Hurkacz in the times they've met and tomorrow does not seem like a good time for Thiem who is still getting back to full fitness, Hurkacz is the favourite going into this big match. The match will go on by 14:00 GMT Richard Gasquet(ATP:82)  plays against home favourite David Goffin(ATP:58)   by 19:00 GMT, Goffin was able to see out Diego Schwartzman in two sets yesterday, he has to rest well and prepare for another top match vs Gasquet who has the advantag

It's been a topsy-turvy few days for Manchester City who lost their Premier League (PL) unbeaten record this season (W7, D2, L1) after a contentious 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, only to then be named Club of the Year at the Ballon d'Or ceremony. Manager Pep Guardiola must now focus his side on avoiding two consecutive league defeats for the first time since December 2018 in order to keep the pressure on league leaders Arsenal. Having recorded nine consecutive home league wins since drawing 2-2 with Liverpool in April, the Cityzens are used to dominating their opponents at the Etihad, and that run coincidentally started with a 3-0 hammering of Brighton. In fact, City have never lost a home H2H (W10, D2) and haven't conceded in any of the last four (W4), suggesting Arsenal's cushy four-point lead at the top could be cut by the time they take to the field on Sunday. Brighton are struggling to get used to life without Graham Potter, but off-field matters dominated Tu

Juventus vs Empoli Match Preview and Prediction

Two consecutive 2-0 defeats, including one at the hands of Israeil side Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League, plunged Juventus further into crisis and piled on even more pressure on under-fire boss Massimiliano Allegri. Perhaps stung by those setbacks and an unwanted training retreat, the players responded to record a crucial 1-0 Derby della Mole victory over Torino in their last Serie A (SA) outing. Every game is a must-win now for Allegri and next up are a tricky Empoli side who won here 1-0 in August 2021 in what was incidentally his first SA home match of his second stint as Juventus boss. Juventus have at least already started their home resurgence, winning consecutive matches here and netting exactly three goals in each to soothe building pressure on Allegri. The last time Juve scored 3+ goals in more than two straight home outings was way back in March 2021, whilst they could also now register three victories in a row at the Allianz Stadium for the first time since the January

AC Ajaccio Vs PSG match Preview and Prediction

Relegation-battling Ajaccio were looking to build on their great 2-1 success at Marseille on matchday ten, and you could argue they succeeded to an extent by coming back from behind to pick up one point from their weekend trip to Troyes (1-1). Although Coach Olivier Pantaloni said he was "relieved" after Mounaïm El Idrissy netted a 88th-minute equaliser, Riad Nouri's missed penalty in the 37th minute, the second for Ajaccio this season, understandably left him with some feeling of "regret". A home game is unlikely to provide any comfort for the Acéistes however, who are still waiting for their first win at the François-Coty Stadium (D1, L4) this season, with Ajaccio's current run of four home losses in the top-flight now the longest in the club's history! A lack of quality in the final third is one of the causes of that losing streak with Pantaloni's men scoring a meager two home goals so far which is the lowest in the division. Paris Saint-Germain
